Christian rex Van Minnen

"In my work, whether stone and oil, metal and wood, or cardboard and papier-mâché alchemy and automatism are linked together in the cognitive creative process. Intention becomes line, line becomes shape, shape becomes form, and form becomes content. In my work I find myself either suppressing or indulging of my own desire to associate personal narrative to the raw visual information inherent in the material and process. Construction, destruction and reconstruction are symbiotic elements in the creative process allowing the image to fluctuate between abstraction and representation, truth and illusion, personal and archetypal."

Really a great and weirdy Providence artist! His artworks are dark and colorful in the same time, his subjects are a kind of grotesque in them. Truly a great one!

Hokkaido

It was... Unique. The kind of travel who change you deeply. I go here for work with old friends, but I took the time for visiting this wondrous and quiet island. People are kind, nature is everywhere despite the technology and the concrete. Great journey in a foreign land.

Sushi!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are two main types of sushi, nigiri-zushi, which is vinegared rice hand-formed into oval shapes and topped with various raw and cooked seafood, and maki-zushi which is vinegared rice combined with seafood and vegetables then wrapped in an edible seaweed called nori and sliced into rounds. Nigiri-zushi is quite finicky to make at home and we tend to eat this type of sushi at Japanese restaurants and sushi bars. Maki-zushi, on the other hand, is far easier to prepare in your own kitchen and the taste of these delightful morsels has left many (including us) with an addiction for life! This sushi recipe requires a sushi mat for rolling.

Ingredients:

2½ cups Japanese short-grain rice
2½ cups cold water
4 tablespoons rice vinegar
3 tablespoons superfine (caster) sugar
2 teaspoons salt
Your choice of fillings (see Sushi roll variations below)
6 sheets of nori
Soya sauce
Pickled ginger
Wasabi
Method:
place the rice in a colander and rinse thoroughly under the tap until the water runs clear, then drain well. place the rice and the cold water in a medium saucepan and bring to the boil. cover the saucepan, turn the heat down to very low, and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid. turn off the heat and allow to stand 10 minutes more, still covered, then spoon the rice into a large bowl. mix together the vinegar, sugar and salt in a small bowl until the sugar dissolves, then drizzle over the rice. mix together gently to coat the rice with the sushi vinegar, then set aside to cool to room temperature. toast each nori sheet very lightly by passing back and forth quickly over a stove-top hot plate (don't place it too close to the heat or else the delicate nori will burn).

Happy beach time my dearest Cath!!! I am very happy to see that your healthy body look well!!!

Beef in Guinnes!!!

Ingredients:
1 1/2lb shin of beef
1 large onions
3 medium carrots
1 tbsp seasoned flour
a little fat or beef dripping
1/4 cup dry cider
1/2 cup Guinness with water
sprig of parsley

Method:
Cut the beef into chunks and peel and slice the onions and carrots.
Toss the beef in the flour and brown quickly in hot fat. Remove the beef and fry the onions gently until transparent. Return the beef and add the carrots and the liquid. Bring just to the boil, reduce the heat to a very gentle simmer, cover closely and cook for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Check that the dish does not dry out, adding more liquid if necessary.
Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with plainly boiled potatoes.
